Eight years in the making.

Although the forecast had been calling for rain that day, someone was watching out for them. Amanda and Brian were married outside at the Kent Manor Inn on the Eastern Shore, then dessert and drinks at the bride’s mother’s house.

Amanda and Brian are proof that true love exists in this world. Their love is what others seek out to find, and a love that will truly stand the test of time. I can attest to their relationship because Amanda is my sister, and Brian her best friend.

From the moment I met Brian while visiting my sister at the University of Maryland, I knew he was something special. I hadn’t gotten the scoop from Amanda yet, but I knew she fancied him. That night Brian looked out for me as if he were my older brother. To this day Brian and Amanda look after me, help me, and make sure I’m ok. Brian is the amazing brother I never had, and Amanda the sister I’ve always wanted to be like.

Amanda and Brian’s relationship has stood the test of time. From meeting freshman year at UMD, law school, and Amanda teaching, the last eight years have only solidified their everlasting relationship. They’ve conquered the world …hiking every trail and mountain, biking every path, sailing all the seas on the Black Pearl, kayaking the Chesapeake, trips to Key West, Myrtle, OC, Paris, Cali, they’ve done it all.

I can’t wait to see what the future holds for them. I love you guys!

Some rockin’ shoes!

Bride’s gorgeous parents. :)

Waiting for everyone to arrive.

“Land of the free…because of the brave”

Two years ago I spent my Memorial Day at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in DC…just me and my camera. It’s such a peaceful and serene place. You can feel the souls of those etched in the wall looking down upon you. Loved ones leave pictures, flags, and memorabilia of those lost.

I made my way down the wall and noticed a group of three Vietnam Vets, all standing at a particular spot on the wall. The most intimidating one, with a long pony tail in Harley Davidson chaps, leather jacket and a bandanna around his head, leaned over and took a pencil rubbing of a name. He broke down and collapsed against the wall sobbing we miss you man, we’ll never forget you, he said.  I don’t know the name of the the gentleman on the wall, or his friends, but I couldn’t help but feel their pain and found tears streaming down my face.  Wars are fought, and lives are lost.  No one should have to go through this, no one should have to feel the pain of losing someone to these wars.  Mothers. Fathers. Sisters. Brothers. Children. Friends. are all affected by the causalities of war, and this man was no different.

I did two rubbings myself. One of Gary L. Jenks and the other of Orlando Torres-Oyola.  I just wanted to give a huge thank you to Gary Jenks, and Orlando Torres-Oyola, those who lost their lives, those who have fought, are fighting and will be fighting for our country. I know many brave young people who are serving our country in the military and my heart goes out to those who have lost love ones, and to those whose loved ones are deployed. I can only hope for every last one of them to return safely.

Thank you for all you do.

Flucci.

Since it’s taken me longer then I thought to post Amanda and Brian’s wedding pics, I thought I owe you something, anything. So here is a tiny sneak peak. The rest will be posted this weekend. Be excited. Be very excited.

Ernst - Flucci has been trademarked by the Ellicott 5 clan for years.

I didn’t know you were a photo enthusiast – nice pics! I might even make an appearance at the reception in August.

MomMay 24, 2008 – 3:38 pm

So I’m a little late…

On April 4th Mom really outdid herself and threw an awesome bridal shower for Amanda. Full of great food, great company and amazing florals(which were done by none other than Alberta!) It was a laid back, uber classy, enjoyable day! Amanda got so many wonderful gifts from friends and family.

It all started with this little shiny rock.

Details. Details.

A huge thank you to mom for planning such a phenomenal party and to everyone who came to celebrate with Amanda.

Anonymous - and once again excellent pictures by Meganbeth! You should also look into doing pictures for Home magazines.. these are great

The Burger Joint.

I am on a strict burger, pizza, and chicken diet. Although some naysayers like my mom and sister just call it picky.

Before I moved into this apartment I lived at home, and fulfilled my burger diet requirement quite often.
But since moving to this “anti allowed to have grills, anywhere, even in the yard outside the apartment building” building,
the essential part of my diet has declined to almost extinction.

When I saw a sign go up about a block away I was gitty with excitement. “The Burger Joint“, clearly right up my alley. Mom and I tried it today and it definitely made the cut. It’s a small walk up counter place with tables and chairs that serves…well…burgers, fries and shakes. Kind of a modern day Johnny Rockets. You must check out their fries, they are the biggest fries I’ve ever seen, they have to be on steriods.

(Please disregard the quality from the P&S)

I must say that it took ridiculously long to make two burgers(twenty minutes), and the first burger I had was raw, but they made me a new one just as soon as I turned around. Although they still have a few kinks to iron out, all in all it was great. I’m sure I will be a frequent shopper. And the best part is, that on the weekends they are open until 2am!
YES! Now I know where I’m going to eat after work.
