Bonnie and Justin are getting married next year in West Chester, PA, and although I’m not shooting their wedding, we had such a fun time during their engagement photo session. It was a cold and rainy day in DC at Union Station, but Bonnie and Justin were such troopers. These guys are so great together and I feel so honored to have been able to photograph their love.
How cute are they?

I never used to like sailing. And if I was going to be totally honest, it was because it scared me. Yes, I know, the girl who willingly jumps out of airplanes is afraid of a measly little boat that tips over a wee bit. My brain just does not agree with the idea of having a boat flip over. So, when forth of July would roll around and Dad explained our plans to go out! On the boat!, I was naturally less than thrilled. AGAIN? Geesh we just went out last year. But I would go, and hold on for dear life when the boat heeled over and the boom was so far out over the water THAT IT WOULD TOUCH IT. Thankfully it never flipped. Hey don’t try to talk sense into me, IT COULD TOTALLY FLIP. But needless to say, I didn’t like the whole ‘sailing’ thing, and I clearly didn’t fit in with the rest of Annapolis, the sailing capital of the world.
And then he got sick, and we had to sell that darn sailboat. At first, I didn’t care. Yesss! Stupid boat, gone!! And now? Well I don’t know where things changed, but they did, and now I would give anything to get back on that water. And I can’t believe the following words are about to come out of my mouth… and anything to get back on a sailboat. I’m sure my fear of the boat tipping over hasn’t subsided one bit, but now sailing represents a time when things were carefree, and normal… when times were good. Times full of bathing suits, river swims, tubing, KFC buckets (yes we like to keep it classy when we sail,) engine failures, dead batteries and rowing, ROWING PEOPLE out to the mooring to board the boat. I miss it, I miss it all.
But things move forward, times change, and this is some sort of new normal. I would have never dreamed that I would want to plaster my walls with photographs of sailboats, but now, now it doesn’t seem so bad.

I asked her if she was nervous, and she said no, just excited. She smiled as they took down the dress from the closet door and helped her step into it. They buttoned up the back and put the finishing touches on her hair. Her dad came in and was beaming as he caught the first glimpse of his oldest daughter getting married. And as her father walked her down the aisle, Markus couldn’t take his eyes off of her. It took a whole different country to find the love of his life, from Germany to the United States, but he found it in Michelle. Their beautiful day was filled with joy, laughter and so much love.
Michelle and Markus, thank you so much for letting me be a part of your day and photograph your most beautiful wedding at the Engineer’s Club. Your love and friendship with each other is so precious and will guide you through life’s adventures, whether it be there in Germany or here in the United States. I feel so honored to be a part of it all, and can’t wait to see what the future holds for you two! xo Megan Beth

Michelle’s Jewel by Priscilla of Boston gown was breathtaking with the lace bodice and subtle sparkle details.

Favorites!
Michelle’s niece was the flower girl, and she arrived with extra cuteness and four missing front teeth.
Michelle’s dad was so proud as he walked her down the aisle of St. Leo’s Church, in Baltimore, Maryland.
They were so happy to finally be married! Woop woop!
I love when Michelle laughs, because Markus always laughs with her.
Markus was so happy all day, smiled all. day. long.
Michelle and Markus decided early on that photographs were one of the most important aspects of the day, so we worked closely on a timeline that would allow plenty of time for photographs. And? Well, they allotted an HOUR AND FORTY-FIVE MINUTES. I was in wedding photographer heaven. We traveled from Little Italy in Baltimore to Fells Point to capture the rest of their wedding photographs. It was so great to get to work with such an amazing couple that wanted to take the time to get relaxed beautiful photographs.
I love this one of Michelle, though let’s be honest, she doesn’t take a bad photograph.
And the Engineer’s Club was a perfect backdrop for their Baltimore Wedding.
Michelle and Markus had the most beautiful first dance, played live by none other than Michelle’s brother.
And he did a amazing job.
LiQuid A was on hand to rock the party, and boy did they rock it. One of the best bands I’ve seen at a wedding.
