As we headed out near the water he grabbed her hand and helped her walk along the rocks.  He was sweet, caring, and watching her every step.  Johel placed his forehead on hers and all they could do was smile.  Love, happiness, and excitement were truly was beaming from them.  The last year has brought some major changes for them, but Katiy and Johel couldn’t be more excited to welcome their new baby, making them a family of three.  I was so thrilled to travel down to southern Maryland to photograph this gorgeous maternity session, and so thankful for one of most beautiful sunsets!  Can’t wait to meet little Inara!

It started off as a beautiful spring day in March.  The sun was warm and the plants were just starting to finally come out of hibernation.  We had planned a couple hours of shooting, to start off in the baby’s room then head outside to a wooded area to match the woodsy theme in the nursery.  Every moment he didn’t leave her side, making sure she had water, making sure she wasn’t too tired to stand, making she sure she was comfortable, because of course she was so precious to him.  We were running late and the sun quickly began to fade, we made our way outside and had a few hold ups along the way.  Thank you Officer for the speeding ticket, just what I wanted.  But we finally made it to a couple of fields a few miles away.  We jumped out of the car and it hit us like a ton of bricks–winter.  Wait, where did this come from, it was high sixties this afternoon.  And now?  Now, it seemed like high thirties.

I asked Melissa if she still wanted to do it, and she said that she would be fine, IN A SLEEVELESS DRESS.  We made our way over and I started shoot.  Think warm thoughts, act like you’re sweating it’s so hot I kept telling them, you know, as if that helps.  She had goosebumps all over, and all he could do was be by her side.  He would gently press his face against her hair line and whisper into her ear, rubbing back and belly to warm her up as much as possible.   And the whole time as I was shooting he was there beside her making sure she was comfortable, making sure she was ok, because of course she was carrying something so precious to them.

Melissa and Bobby, it’s always a joy to see you guys and your growing family!  I can’t wait to meet your new baby boy, and I know you two are going to make amazing parents!  Let’s plan our next shoot in eighty degree weather, no?  xo

The sun beamed brightly in the windows, just a few days away from Christmas. They quietly stood, cradling and soothing their most prized possessions, love just oozing from every ounce of Jen and Dan. It warmed the entire room, the same room in which they would watch Skylar and Rileys’ futures unfold before them. Jen placed her hand on Skylars’ back, and tears started running down Jen’s face. Happy tears. They had the most perfectly adorable little babies in the world, and there they were, finally a family.

Jen and Dan, Thank you so much for having me over. I still can’t believe how amazing Skylar and Riley are. They are truly blessed to have such amazing parents as yourself! xoxo, Megan

There are times when you meet a family, and you click. You know that you could walk in their house anytime and pull up a chair to dinner and they would welcome you with open arms, and then maybe ask you what you brought for dessert. When I met Kathleen and Mike’s family at their wedding, friendships were made, bonds were formed, and I felt like a part of their family. I soon realized it wasn’t just a business deal. So when Mike’s mom Betty asked me if I would do a session with Mike’s sister Helen, I of course was thrilled.

Especially cause Helen is gorgeous.

She certainly knows how to work it!

And this is where I asked Betty if we could take her daughter to the shoulder of a interstate to get shots of the wild flowers. I was slightly afraid to ask, and to my surprise, she was totally up for it, and found a great way to get to it. LOVE when people trust me that much!

This is my absolute favorite! Work it girl! She looks like she came right off the pages of a magazine.

I had so much fun over the weekend during this shoot. The locations were ROCKIN, the weather was gorgeous, and Madeline is absolutely adorable. Matt was looking for something a little bit urbany, and edgy, so Hampden, Baltimore, MD it was. There were so many little corners and colorful buildings to shoot…I was in photog heaven…if there is such a thing.

Madeline is quite the ham.

It has been quite some time since I’ve babysat and experienced the busy life of a three year old boy. I had forgotten about all the monsters that needed to be chased, sword fights to be conquered, dirt to be dug in, and hiding from the bad guys. Little Michael quickly reminded me, and I have a feeling those bad guys won’t be coming back…thanks to us, ok mostly Michael.

Boys can never get enough dirt.

And I believe his words were “NO MORE PICTURES”

Michael is SOO animated, I couldn’t keep up with all his faces.

And then, after a long day of saving the world, he changes out of his superhero clothes and washes up, just like the rest of us.

Internet, do you know? Cause I don’t think you have any idea how hard it is to narrow 700 shots of the cutest baby on the east coast to one blog post. In fact I bet it’s easier to eat one of those green vegetable thingys, broccoli, I think they call it. Noah is absolutely adorable and I think he was quite fond of me, if I do say so myself.

Melissa and Seth have had a long road to starting a family and finally had their dream come true when they moved their adoption search to social media and found a pregnant mother through facebook. And then there were three, Melissa, Seth, and now new born baby Noah. They beamed the entire time I was there, and they couldn’t possibly love him more than they already do. Noah is so blessed to have amazing parents who seem like old pros at this parenthood thing. They are so much fun, cute, cuddly and laid back. Without further ado, I want to introduce you to Noah Benjamin.

I think that’s a smile ;)
