She was out with her friend celebrating her engagement and he was out with his friend, celebrating his engagement.  They were at opposite ends of the bar, but Scott’s newly engaged friend decided to play matchmaker and wanted to set them up.  Because well, Marie was smart, and Scott was smart.  And not only were they both smart, but they were both runners.  See!  Perfect match!  Scott’s friend ran back and forth throughout the night Marie you should really meet my friend Scott, you’re both runners!  And although she was skeptical because he was a midshipmen, before the night was over they agreed to meet.  They hit it off and talked for the rest of the night before going home.

Marie and her friend drove Scott home, though he had still yet to get her number.  He got out of the car, and started walking away.  Marie was bummed and couldn’t believe they didn’t exchange information, so she told her friend just to keep going as she watched him walk away.  And just like out of a movie, at the last second, Scott turned around and came running back to the car to get her number.  They went out the next day, and five years later this August, they will get married at Historic London Town House and Gardens.  Since their wedding is going to be at a beautiful garden setting on the water, Marie wanted to switch it up a little for their engagement photos, and decided on Washington DC as a perfectly urban backdrop.

Marie is so much fun, seriously, the girl just brings energy and excitement to wherever she is.

And not to mention, beautiful.

How adorable are they?

Before we started I told them no need to be nervous, we were just there to have a good time.  And Marie?  She was all, pusht I’m not nervous, JUST EXCITED.  My kinda girl!  And right here, here’s where I knew Scott and Marie brought the fierceness.

Scott is so sweet with Marie, you can just see how much he loves her when he looks at her.

And Scott?  Dude, can bring the swag.  Lookin’ all GQ.

We found this alley that was covered with street art, and Marie just fell in love.  Which then made my heart explode because I love shooting engagement photographs in urban settings.  This gorgeousness might be my favorite from the day!

This one on the left is the epitome of Marie and Scott’s relationship.  Marie making Scott laugh, and them having fun no matter where they are.

Seriously Marie, you look gorgeous in this photograph.

2012.  Weird, no?  I was just getting used to writing 2011.  For some reason I kept writing 2001, bringin it back OLD SCHOOL.  And speaking of old school, please check out this beautifulness from Marie and Scott’s engagement photographs in Washington DC.  Marie and I went to high school together, and well,  we had the most wonderful afternoon roaming the alleys of U Street and debating the most delicious cupcake stores.  Which basically means, Marie and I?  We’re like soulmates.  Well, of course, right after her and Scott.  More from their engagement session, coming soon!

They met on The Hill.  He with his way fancy English accent, and she the new girl in the office.  The word got out about the ‘new girl’ so, all the guys made their rounds to introduce themselves.  They became friends and started to hang out more often through work socials and intermural soccer games.  And then, all of a sudden, the documents that Megan normally sent to Mark’s office in a different part of the building by another staffer, NEEDED to be hand delivered by Megan, of course.  Both hesitant to make the first move, they decided to make a bet.  You know, a friendly little bet.  But this wasn’t any bet.  Because although there would be the loser who had to take the other person out for a drink, I think they both knew it was a win/win situation.

Megan and Mark are so much fun to hang out with, and we started their engagement pictures in the Federal Hill area in Baltimore, where they just bought a new place!

I just love these.  It’s so them. Happy and laughing.

He was at the Naval Academy and she from Annapolis, so it’s no wonder that their lives crossed.  They were friends for the longest time before they started dating, and then one day something changed.  Their journey took them to San Diego together, and then Rob overseas on deployments.  Jess ever counting down the days for his return.  But through all the uncertain days apart, and the joyous ones together, they remain focused on one thing: their love for each other.

I can’t wait for Jessica and Rob’s beautiful wedding next year! It will be held in October at one of my most favorite locations, the beautiful Oaks on the eastern shore.  We started off Jess and Rob’s nautical inspired engagement photographs in Annapolis, Maryland.

I’d be checking out my hand all day too, if I had Jess’s stunning diamond engagement ring!

They are so very sweet with each other.

Jess is just effortlessly beautiful.  Amazing eyes and glowing sun kissed skin.  Clearly I need to move to San Diego.

Rob you just ooze cool.  Seriously. 

I just love all the little details that made up their outfits.  Rob’s big watch, Jess’s striped navy shirt, oh and how could I forget JESS’S GREEN SUEDE WEDGES.  Love, times a thousand.

As we were finishing up with the engagement session a gentleman came out from his boat and asked us what we were doing.  We went on to tell him that they were engaged and we were taking engagement photos, at which point he told us to feel free to hop on his boat yacht and shoot on there if we pleased.  Umm, YES PLEASE.  And so, we finished off their engagement session on this stunning yacht docked in the waters of Annapolis.  

And this one?  Definitely my favorite.

Is anyone on the internet today?  No.  I didn’t think so.  I’m sure you all are out shopping!  Get me something.  Size: XS.  BUT for those of you who are home…here’s a little peek from Megan and Mark’s engagement photos in Federal Hill.  They’re getting married this year, on NEW YEARS EVE at the Tiderwater Inn in Easton!  Can’t wait!

I’ve known Gabe for quite some time now, and though not previously knowing Megan I knew she had to be awesome.  I mean, with a name like that HOW COULD SHE NOT BE AWESOME.  Megan and Gabe are the true example of opposites attract; Megan a beautiful, smart, dedicated accountant.  I KNOW, an accountant.  And Gabe?  Outgoing, absolutely hilarious, and always up for a good time.  But what I didn’t expect is for them to rub off on each other, making them both the most perfect balance of each.

I’m soo excited for their wedding next June at the Historic Oakland Mansion, as I’m pretty sure it’s going to be one heck of a party.

Since Megan and Gabe just bought a beautiful home in Baltimore, they chose to have their engagement photos taken just right up the street at Mt. Vernon.

Megan just started getting into photography, which is great, because Gabe LOVES HAVING HIS PHOTOGRAPH TAKEN.  I told her she should have brought her camera and we could have had a shoot out.

Megan said she was a little nervous about the photo shoot.  Why, I am not sure, just LOOK AT THIS ONE.  It’s my favorite.  You two are just lovely.

Mt. Vernon is quickly becoming one of my favorite places to shoot.  So pretty everywhere you turn!

The sun was quickly fading, but we finished up their engagement photos on this adorable little stoop.  Megan and Gabe, stop being so cute.

And then after our session, we ended with a group hug.  Gabe: “Ya’ll are my two favorite Megans!”  Chaa-ching!

These last few months have been a whirlwind, and I needed some time to recharge.  I needed to recharge, relax, and soak up life.  You see, I’m learning to turn my email off and put all business away during non business hours, for me, for my sanity.  Because if you let it, it will swallow you whole and you have no one to blame but yourself.  So last night I turned the email off and drove back home to Annapolis.  We sat at the corner table sharing life’s stories, reminiscing about high school, and laughing and I couldn’t have been happier, my soul needed it.

His plan was going to go through, even if the same spot on Sandy Island, right off of Anguilla was just televised on the Bachelor that week.  On Liz’s annual St. Martin’s birthday trip, this year with their friends in tow, they chartered a boat and headed out island hopping around the Caribbean.  With the precious cargo in Alden’s bag, the boat anchored and they had to swim ashore, all while Alden nervously kept the bag out of the water in between the crystal, clear blue, crashing waves.  They finally made it ashore and Liz spotted a couple of chairs down on the far end of the island.  As they were walking over she noticed a bottle of Champagne buried in the sand, hesitant to take someone’s seat, Alden assured her it was theirs then got down on one knee and asked her to marry him.

I’m so excited for Liz and Alden’s wedding next September at Newton White Mansion, not only because they are absolutely adorable together but because it’s such a honor to photograph a friend from high school.  And I kid you not, these following images are from the very first frames of the shoot.  Like, seriously Liz?  Love love love, it all!  You look so pretty!

For their engagement photos we started off at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St. Michael’s Maryland.  And here is Alden looking so foxy.  Yes, I just said foxy.

This beautifulness right here is my favorite from the day, I think.  And those oars on the left?  Yes, they were PERFECTLY placed.

Although we had met before, I hadn’t realized how tall Alden was until we started shooting.  Tall, dark and handsome!

Right before the sunset over the horizon we drove around the corner to the Inn at Perry Cabin, where Wedding Crashers was filmed to wrap up their engagement photos.  Because really, look at that dusk sky glowing behind them!

We finished the session right as the sky was turning to night.  And I’m not going to lie, I love this one too, great way to end a beautiful day.

Yea, we didn’t really like each other when we first met, she goes on to tell me.  It was their first meeting, a get together at his place in college.  She walked in with her friends and mighhhhhtt have made a comment about the temperature being slightly on the warm side.  Nick, still unsure of this girl walking in his house making temperature complaints, told her that if she didn’t like it, then she was more than welcome to leave.  And so she did.  Luckily they had another chance encounter one night while they were out, and this time it went much smoother.  In fact, they hit it off, all but forgetting what had once been and now changing the course of their lives.

I’m so excited for Christine and Nick’s wedding next July in Baltimore.  Not only is Christine just the sweetest thing in the world, but Nick and I grew up together.  Like community pool, tot swim team…go NCA GATORS!  Things have changed quite a bit from back in those swim team days, and I couldn’t be more honored to photograph their wedding.

And when the session starts off like this, I mean really, how cute are they?

It was mighty windy on that day in Canton, but I think it adds to Christine’s beauty.

I just love this one, definitely my favorite from the day.

And then they changed into something a little dressier, and we headed over to Fells Point to finish up their engagement photos.

Christine, you have the best legs, seriously.  My short little legs are way jealous.
