It’s surprising that they hadn’t met before, their lives crisscrossed several times. Mary Anne from New York, Gus from Maryland; only being two hours from each other without knowing it, they were even at some of the same events, and never met. Mary Anne’s family moved down south, to Alabama, and just as life would have it, Gus moved down there for work. Their lives finally crossed at church, and though they didn’t really hang out, just soon enough Gus moved up to New York, where Mary Anne is from. He never expected to be back down south but kept in touch with everyone from church, in particular Miss Mary Anne, who had caught his eye. They corresponded from afar, and he made a point to keep in touch. Because, who knew? And then Gus’s job, it took him back, again, to the south. Where Mary Anne was. Three years later he invited her to join him at the water with her camera to “take pictures for his work,” and you know, to ask her to be his forever.
Mary Anne and Gus, thank you for spending the morning with me, and uhh…yea the hundred degree morning. But honestly, it was totally worth it. You two. Georgetown Cupcakes. Perfect morning. Thank you for your kindness and support all these years, can’t wait for your wedding in Emmitsburg, it’s going to be absolutely lovely. xo
This was right after they both confessed to me that they are terrible in front of the camera. And I love a good challenge, but really, I knew they were lying.
