I used to get so frustrated. It would take her ten minutes. She would slowly and precisely unstick each piece of tape, slide the box out, and fold, FOLD PEOPLE, the USED WRAPPING PAPER! WHO DOES THAT?! Apparently Alberta, my mother.
It was love at first sight. I locked eyes with that 3×4 piece of NINE DOLLAR WRAPPING PAPER at Paper Source and I was all ‘I’ll take ten!’ Something about having the most fabulous wrapped package was all that mattered. If the paper and packaging is THAT amazing, just imagine how much thought, time, and effort has gone into what’s inside. My packaging is no different than my Christmas presents. I actually enjoy finding the perfectly matching paper, box, or ribbon. And obsess over how I can make it more perfect…if that’s possible.
These days my unwrapping technique have changed a bit. I notice it, appreciate it, and heck if it’s not ripped use that piece again! Maybe Alberta wasn’t so neurotic after all.
