Her single days are numbered.

On Saturday I planned a nice evening out in DC with Amanda and her best friends to celebrate her last days as a single lady. We went to this awesome place in DC called Matchbox. It’s a “Vintage Pizza Bistro.”
Wow, was it good. The apple martini was delish, pizza was fantastic(and I love me some pizza),
and the chocolate molten cake was to die for. We had a great time.

Great shoes = a great night.

It’s right outside of Chinatown.

I love this dark moody picture of the bride to be.
It looks like Times Square with all those lights.

She thought I was going to make her put on this shirt I had made for her.
Correction: “It is for you to wear the morning of the wedding.” “Oh ok, thank god.”

The whole crew.

After beautiful weather all day and evening, it started pouring five minutes before we left to go to another place. Needless to say…we were drenched when we got to Proof. Proof is an awesome wine bar just around the corner.

Just wanted to say thank you to Mom, Melissa, Tracey, Jackie, Carrie and Lauren for coming to Amanda’s special night.

Anonymous - Nice photos Megan. I think you should contact Matchstick about using some of these on their website. They’re way better than what they have now.
It was a fun night…. thanks for including me!

You’re approved.

I never thought that those two simple words could almost bring me to tears. Welp, they did.

For awhile now I’ve had this huge ordeal with the apartment complex that I live in. Since I wasn’t on the lease, when Amanda moved out I was left stranded. Either I could find a new roommate or go back home, because I certainly can’t afford this apartment on my own. I have a roommate, but the management office decided they were going to push me around because I’m young…and they can. So basically I thought I was getting kicked out…umm…twice. Which lead to a few minor panic attacks. It’s fine if you have everything planned and you know where you’re going and what you’re going to do. But when the apartment jerkfaces, I mean people, string you along and miscalculate things(things that make a huge difference) and don’t tell you if you’re in or out, it can be a little(understatement) stressful.

So it all came down to today after two months of dealing with them. I was literally shaking when I called twice to see if we had been approved or not. Because if not, I would have to have ALL my stuff out by WEDNESDAY….yes this wednesday…it’s monday…yes I know.

He called. My heart sank and he said “you’re approved”. I hung up the phone screamed and jumped up and down.
The words sounded almost as good as “you just won the lottery!”

Here I am. Sitting in my very empty apartment. Alone. But the important part, is that it’s my apartment. Feel free to send your ‘congrats you weren’t kicked out and get to keep your apartment gifts’ to …well, my apartment. :)

Blog stalking.

After a short blog hiatus, I am finally back. I’ve had a few roller coaster weeks, but I won’t bore you with the details. The great news is that here I am, and it’s supposed to be 78 degrees today! Yippie!

As a photographer, I’m always trying to learn, grow, expand and soak up any photog info I can, I often
(cough. cough. very often. ok people. everyday. hence blog stalking) check out my favorite photographers blogs.
I can only hope that one day I will be a fraction of what they are.

Here are some of my absolute favorites!

The amazing Jessica Claire. Her photos are phenomenal. They are SO crisp and clear and moody and welp absolutely perfect. Plus she invented the Shootsac, which I love dearly!

The super [b]ecker. He always gives great tips to better your photography, your business, and manage your time.
He’s blunt, and to the point but is all around a great inspiration!

And of course, Jasmine* . I can’t get enough of her blog. She started her business over a year ago, and clearly is amazing at what she does(especially for only doing it for such a short period of time). I feel like I can totally relate to her, and hopefully in a year I will be as successful as she is. Besides the fact that she is a great photographer, she is so good at writing and telling stories(I ACTUALLY laugh out loud reading her stuff), and seems so down to earth.

Boutwell Studio. They came up with the Totally Rad Actions, which make the photographs
oh so lovely and are worth every stinkin penny. I can’t live without the TRAs!
I love the Boutwell’s work because it’s classic, elegant and beautifully stunning.

A new love of mine… drewB photography. I love that her images are fresh, bright, and fun.

the image is found. Their pictures aren’t what I thought I liked, but I love them!
They are edgy, moody, funky and always seem to capture the subject in such a fun way.

lunaphoto. I love their crisp, classic, romantic photos!
They always seem to shoot in great places, with beautiful intriguing backgrounds.

And last…but certainly not least. Chris+Lynn Photographers. They are a husband and wife team who shoot out of Canada, eh. I’ve never seen photos that are so dramatic. The way they use lighting to make their photographs pop is amazing. They like to shoot bright bold colors which really make the photographs stand out. I love how they make the subject look stunning, looking as if they were straight out of a fashion magazine!

DrewB - Hi Megan! Thanks so much for including me in a list of such amazing photographers! They are all favorites of mine as well! And thanks for reading my blog! Just saw your first wedding pictures and you did totally awesome! Can’t wait to see more!April 25, 2008 – 7:07 pm

My very own Jacques Marcel dress.

In that lovely box from J.Crew was a dress. Being super excited, I ripped it open and tried on the dress…

Well …the dress looked strikingly similar on me to Lucy’s Jacques Marcel dress. (For those of you who need to brush up on your “I Love Lucy” episodes, it is where she goes to Paris and buys a “designer” dress that is made out of a potato sack.)

I’d have no complaints if I paid the going rate for a sack of potatoes, but I can assure you that this fine sack of potatoes cost me way more then that. I had to go to the mall, return the dress and start from square one. UGH. GREAT.

I eventually did find another dress at Nordstrom’s online, but of course they didn’t have it in the store.
In fact they didn’t have it anywhere on the east coast!
So my little dress is still somewhere out in the midwest hopefully on it’s way to Bethesda soon.

I also found shoes the same day, and they didn’t have in my size either,
but the great news is that they came in the mail today! woohoo. Check out these puppies.

And just in case you were wondering… $3.99 for a sack of potatoes.
